Copeland Age & Advice Service (CAAS)

CAAS help over 55’s in Copeland to live independently through the provision of benefit checks, assistance with benefit claims and other support services. Giving our older generation the opportunity to live fulfilled and independent lives, through providing personalised advice and support.

Phoenix Enterprise Centre (PEC)

Following on from the Copeland Connect Plus project, with the addition of a Food Pantry service the project will work in partnership with Citizens Advice Copeland and Whitehaven and District Credit Union to offer an advice and guidance service with free digital access across three centres in Whitehaven, Cleator Moor & Millom.

Vulture Club

Vulture Club offers a community based addiction recovery service in Whitehaven which provides additional support to complement the work of statutory Services. The creative activities delivered by VC, focus on the development of personal recovery & resilience.

Citizen Advice Copeland (CAC) And Whitehaven & District Credit Union (WEDCU)- Copeland Financial Inclusion Project

Citizens Advice Copeland (CA Copeland) is an independent charity delivering advice services throughout the local area. The financial inclusion work supports people to maximise income and reduce expenditure, deal with household debts, reduce expenditure and secure housing.

Copeland Borough Council – Social Prescribing

The Social Prescribing Team was established to help Copeland residents improve their health and wellbeing by connecting them with a range of groups, activities and services in the local area.

Home To Work (Skills 4 You)

Skills 4 You is a project hosted by Home to Work. The Project was established to meet the needs of the unemployed in Copeland. Offering long term unemployed and hard to reach benefit claimants the chance to engage in real life work settings to develop practical skills while addressing other barriers to employment.

CBC – Prevention Support

This project is to continue to employ the Prevention & Crisis Officer for a further three years when the current funding ceases in December 2019. Evidence held by Copeland Borough Council showed that many clients presenting as homeless, or at risk of homelessness, were doing so due to domestic abuse. The Prevention and Crisis Support Officer post was created in January 2018 following a successful Cumbrian district bid to MHCLG for funding to tackle domestic abuse in the County.

Thwaites Village Hall

Thwaites Village Hall serves the whole community of Thwaites, including the villages and hamlets of The Green, Lady Hall and Broadgate.  Thwaites has a strong community spirit, and the hall is both well used and well supported.

Whitehaven Parkrun

Whitehaven Parkrun provides a weekly opportunity for the community to come together and participate in a fun, sociable, accessible physical activity.

Eskdale Mill

Eskdale Mill is Grade II Listed and is the last operating, water-powered corn mill in the Lake District National Park. Each building is full of character and the superb vernacular architecture. The Mill contains rare working original features.
