‘Goodlives’ is a growing project that aims to offer real life skills and employment skills through gardening and horticulture. Based at West Lakes Science Park.
Through Home to Work’s, Skills 4 You programme, the Goodlives project offers training, education, health, wellbeing opportunities and the potential to support a range of disadvantaged groups in our local communities.
This award provides funding to purchase 3 poly tunnels and a modular kitchen to improve growing capacity and learner facilities. The modular kitchen will provide learners with an inside space to develop confidence, creativity and cooking skills, using the produce grown on the Goodlives site.
The project creates a ‘work’ environment focused on food production whilst supporting people into employment, education and training opportunities together with delivering health & well-being benefits.

- 400 Weeks spent on meaningful local work placements or pre- employment course for people who are Not in Employment, Education or Training
- 120 People Benefit from Initiatives or interventions taken to promote good mental health or increased access to effective mental health support.
- 150 Volunteering hours Dedicated to the creation or management of green infrastructure, to increase biodiversity, or to keep green spaces clean.
