Distington Club for Young People – ‘A Time to Grow, A Place to Go’

Distington Club for Young People has been in operation for over 65 years, serving and meeting the needs of the youth of the village and surrounding areas. They approached the Fund with a proposal to employ a Youth Development Officer to continue and further support the young people.

DCYP have been ambitious in their efforts to address crime and security issues, health and community spirit, and the improvement of young people’s well-being through advocacy, skills development and social inclusion.

Gary Hewer DCYP Chairman & Trustee stated that “the support of Copeland Community Fund has been the catalyst in driving our aims and objectives forward, helping nurture our young people to enable them to become a valued part of our community and society as a whole. Through the CCF grants and ongoing partnership support with their officers we have developed the club into a thriving Young People’s Centre which is often referred to as a model of good practice.”
